South Bethany offers a wide, clean beach accessible by public walkways, often called "the best little beach in Delaware." There are no boardwalks, no arcades, no distractions. On the west side, a five-mile canal network offers bay sunsets with warm light reflecting off the water and the Assawoman Wildlife Refuge in the distance.
The Atmosphere
South Bethany is celebrated for its serene atmosphere and multi-generational family traditions. The town spans less than one square mile and is almost entirely residential. There is no commercial center, which is precisely the point.
